The Process to the Promise

Sisters, healing is a journey that takes Jesus into the innermost parts of your heart and asks,

"Can You come in? Because I need You here..."

I can remember back in 2016 when I decided to go and see a Christian counselor for my adoption issues. I never thought I struggled greatly with this area of my life until an issue arose that signaled that I needed help.

In the first session, I walked out feeling great and thinking, "I can come back every three months, I am pretty much healed." But during the second session, it became clearer to me why I struggled with feelings of rejection, abandonment, and struggled in relationships.

Counseling was a safe place that allowed me to explore myself. I discovered that from the womb to the first 3 months of my life, I had experienced many transitions. Through sharing and being open I was able to connect these events to my ongoing feelings of instability. Despite the years passing by, I still needed healing from these events and to be freed.

Reflecting on the month's theme of 'Being Committed to Your Healing,' the woman with the issue of blood immediately came to my mind. How she pressed her way to Jesus and fought to see herself become healed. Just like her, I pressed my way to counseling in faith because I knew that I needed to see the Kristina that God had fearfully and wonderfully made. Connecting with the story allowed me to realise that she was a woman that was committed to the process.
My healing is ongoing. But the more I trust Jesus with my healing, the more I am becoming whole in Him.

"Daughter, your faith has made you well..." [Mark 5:34]; those were the sweet and precious words Jesus spoke to the woman struggling with her healing to become whole, physically. I couldn't imagine being placed in her shoes, bleeding for 12 years. As a woman, bleeding for that amount of time, I could only imagine what she was going through, even internally- the shame, feeling unloved, and desiring to have hope again.

But does that sound like some of us? The feelings of shame, hopelessness and the heart calling out for love because it has been unloved for so long. From her story we find that she saw a great deal of doctors and spent all she had but instead of getting better she grew worse.

How is it that you can see many doctors for the same issue but the issue grows worse? Disappointment after disappointment left her feeling the grief and pain of never becoming whole. But, thank God the story doesn't end there. She reached and touched her way to Jesus. She committed to the process and out of that process, her faith made her well.

Your journey to healing is a journey of commitment. A commitment to Jesus to get your healing. Every part of it.

The woman with the issue of blood committed to her healing by going to many doctors. But, only one doctor could be the physician that she truly needed. She committed to the process and even though this process took longer than expected. She stayed the course and didn't give up.

Sisters, don't give up on your healing journey. Your breakthrough is on the way!

As I took each step to my counseling sessions, I remembered that I too needed to stay committed. Just like the woman with the issue of blood, I became an overcomer and able to share my testimony with others to inspire them to keep going on their healing journey.

Whole in Greek means "to save from suffering (from perishing), i.e one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health".

The health restoration that God had promised her would come to pass by a unique miracle. This too is true for you, you will be healed, restored and become free in the way that God intends.

2 Corinthians 1:20 says,

"For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes'' in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God."
