God Hears You

Have you ever wondered if your prayers were really being heard by God?

You are not alone in your thoughts.

Doubts and questions about whether the prayer you just prayed a moment ago was effective can emerge for different reasons. Sometimes you may feel a sense of unworthiness when approaching God in prayer. Here you may battle with feelings of guilt or condemnation related to unrepentant sin for which you may unduly hesitate to seek forgiveness for. Other times you may lack the faith and experiential knowledge needed to help you believe that God will do something about what you have just prayed for, so you withhold from Him.

Overcoming in this area is possible. You can become confident in the fact that God hears you each time you pray.

Turning to Hebrews 4:16 we find,

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Some versions of this verse exchange the word 'confidence' for the word 'boldly'. God wants us to be confident and bold when approaching Him in prayer. This is because He is ready to act and give to us each time we come to Him. Prayer will not leave you disappointed. When you invite God into areas of your life through talking to Him, changes will take place.

For those of you who need to cross over that hurdle of uttering to God your painful circumstance, be encouraged by the words of Psalm 139:4 which reads,

Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.

God knows exactly what you are going through. His involvement in your life doesn't depend on your ability to 'correctly package' a cry for help but rather rests on Him honouring your faith in coming to him.

No prayer is insignificant to Him. No matter how helpless or hopeless the situation you face, your prayers invite God into the midst of them with you. He will respond in kindness and faithfulness towards you.

God has a strong desire for you to take steps forward in your prayer life. He wants to see you rooted in the confidence that stems from knowing and trusting in Who He says He is and His ability to do for you.
